Our Boxing day fishing trip took us an hour north to the Burdekin dam and Lake Dalrymple. Having only seen one day of rain since we arrived in Queensland and not so much as a puddle, imagine my surprise that there was this 220km square, 40m deep body of water just plonked in the middle of the great dividing range. As I stood there on the edge of the road opposite the dam wall, I was seriously hoping that there wouldn’t be a tidal wave!
After a lovely meal of Christmas day leftovers we headed out to catch some dinner. We had a couple of nibbles on the line, a few moments of frantic reeling but all we actually caught was a sun tan!
